Joa is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor who works extensively with individuals, couples, and families struggling with a variety of problems, such as addictions, depression, anxiety, intergenerational family conflict, trauma, and marital conflict. As a therapist, he helps his clients develop the skills necessary for experiencing and maintaining a greater sense of freedom, intimacy, and meaning in their relationships and in their lives. Joa is committed to giving his clients the utmost respect and acceptance, meeting them where they are at and helping them move toward a place of greater health and well being.
After completing a bachelor’s degree in pastoral studies and counseling and a Master of Divinity degree in pastoral studies, Joa graduated with a Master of Arts in Biblical counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. in Family Therapy from Texas Woman’s University. Joa also presents frequently at Dallas-area counseling conferences, state conferences, and teaches counseling courses at Dallas Theological Seminary. Joa is also trained and certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), applying this evidence based model to individuals, couples, and families.
